Cyclo-cross with Cycle Stars
Cyclo-cross is back for another winter season.
For those of you that are new to cycling, cyclo-cross is off road riding and when we get a bit muddy. It's not as extreme as mountain biking, but is faster and can include some quite tricky terrain.
Ridden on bikes similar to road bikes but have more frame clearence for the mud and are fitted with nobbly tyres. A hybrid or mountain bike can be used, the only downside is the weight. In cyclo-cross you will see riders jump on and off their bikes and perform bunny hops so the lighter the bike the better.
There are two leagues Cycle Stars participate in and that's the Western league and the West Midlands league, so there is always plenty of events to participate in.
Cycle Stars coach at Belmont School on a Saturday 2.30-3.30pm, this is an ideal session for our Rookie Racers and can be also be useful for our more experienced riders wanting to learn skills like mounting and dismounting and bunny hopping.
For the more technical rides we regulary meet at Benhall Woods, which provide the perfect conditions for riders preparing for events, these sessions are posted either on the Club Website or on Facebook.
