It's a win for St Marks Junior School

St Marks Junior School - Cycle Team

St Marks Junior took on Hempsted Primary in the second round of the school cycle race league. St Marks were the favourites to win being previous winners of the BSCA Cyclocross Championships.

Both teams had riders who had never raced before and so it was a new and exiting experience for all.

St Marks school was hosts for the day and racing was a cyclocross relay, with each rider pitted against a rider of similar standard. Riders were proving to be evenly matched but a few falls from Hempsted riders during the switch back section sealed their fate. Izzy the team captain finished with a blitzering lap to take the win for St Marks. St Marks don't have long to revel in their glory, they now take on St James in an away race on the 31st January. St James who were winners of the first round against Lakeside, were last years winners of the BSCA Regional CX Championships and so will be a worthy opponent.

Team Hempsted led by captain Daniel aren't disheartened, they loved racing, they have learnt lessons and know where their skills need to improve. The team can't wait to race again, this time it will be a home event against Leckhampton Primary School on the 9th February.

Both school teams are coached by Cycle Stars and team captains Izzy and Daniel both race for Cycle Stars.
