Cyclo-cross with Cycle Stars

Cyclo-cross is back for another winter season.

For those of you that are new to cycling, cyclo-cross is off road riding and when we get a bit muddy. It's not as extreme as mountain biking, but is faster and can include some quite tricky terrain.

Ridden on bikes similar to road bikes but have more frame clearence for the mud and are fitted with nobbly tyres. A hybrid or mountain bike can be used, the only downside is the weight. In cyclo-cross you will see riders jump on and off their bikes and perform bunny hops so the lighter the bike the better.

There are two leagues Cycle Stars participate in and that's the Western league and the West Midlands league, so there is always plenty of events to participate in.

Cycle Stars host regular Cyclocross coaching sessions for both Rookie Racers, see our current coaching sessions

CAN I USE A MOUNTAIN BIKE FOR CROSS? Yes with a few modifications your mountain bike will suffice until you become more serious in competition. Let us show you how: MTB Conversion
